Beginning Beekeeping

Learn the basics of beekeeping in this two-class series led by Terry Lieberman-Smith.
The first class held on February 1st from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. will focus on the following topics:
-birds and bees
-what you will need to keep bees
-frame and box building
-where to acquire bees
-where to house bees
-castes of bees
-strains of bees
-zoning and neighbors
-goodies from the hive

The second class held on Feruary 2nd from 11:00 to 4:00 p.m. will focus on:
-nucs/nucleus colonies
-package and swarm installation
-diseases
-inspection, feeding and mite control
-hive progression
-spring, summer and fall management

Class fee includes a 1 year membership to the Ohio State Beekeepers and Miami Valley Beekeepers.
Maximum Class size is 15.
Class fee $60.
Preregister is required.

Note:

-Credit cards have a $2.25 service fee.
-Please note when registering for this class it is a TWO day course.
-Class will be held at the Cabin at Lost Creek Reserve.
-Bring a lunch and drink.
-February 1 class is from 8:00-4:00.
-February 2 class is from 11:00-4:00.
